It’s 31-pages long and has more than 800 pages of exhibits but a reader would never know it. The latest filing from the Special Counsel’s Office (SCO) is titled “Declaration in Support of the Government’s Breach Determination and Sentencing.” The heavily redacted document, filed with the D.C. District Court, is the latest in the saga between the United States of America vs Paul J. Manafort, Jr. and explains why and how the defendant broke his plea agreement with the SCO. With many of its 188 pages blacked out, the document remains as silent as the man orchestrating the massive investigation into Russian influence in the 2016 presidential election. What can be gleaned is that Manafort lied, repeatedly. This pattern of deceit broke the plea agreement.
